Regional Perfusion & Surgical Simulation

Regional perfusion uses the same system as our full body perfusion, but is applied directly to an upper or lower extremity. The trainee must achieve external and internal control of bleeding followed by shunt placement and restoration of flow to the distal limb.

Regional perfusion is also available for open general surgery carotid injury simulation, or for internal carotid artery injury management during endoscopic skull-base neurosurgical procedures.

Regional perfusion and real world injuries are combined with dynamic vital signs to add layer upon layer of fidelity to the training session.  All sessions are video recorded for post case review with trainees and instructors are provided performance rubrics to assist in debriefing following the case. This method of training supports transfer of skills learned in the laboratory setting to the living patient operating room or emergency setting and has an impact on patient safety.
